We work in partnership with the university to help our top athletes perform at their best in BUCS competitions and our massive annual Roses tournament versus the University of York.

Most of our teams are 'Sport Lancaster Plus' clubs, and members sign up to a package of services designed to bring an extra level of professionalism to our teams.

A smaller group are 'Sport Lancaster' clubs, which represent the university but make their own training arrangements to suit the demands of their particular sport.

The Sport Lancaster Access fund offers assistance to students who face a financial barrier to representing the university.

Sport Lancaster Plus Clubs

As part of the package all Sport Lancaster Plus clubs have their BUCS fees, including affiliation and transport costs covered. Members also gain access to the gym (at the times relevant to their level of membership) and exclusively for Sport Lancaster Plus clubs 6.15pm to 11pm every Sunday evening.

Members have access to training facilities at least twice a week and will not have to purchase playing kit as it is provided by the union and the university. This kit is club-owned, not individually-owned, and therefore must be returned at the end of the year. 

All members must take their library cards to every training session and gym session to be able to take part.

Sport Lancaster Clubs

Sport Lancaster clubs compete in BUCS but with different training requirements (particularly off-site) and therefore members of these clubs are not required to have a gym membership, unless it is desired. Read full membership details for Sport Lancaster club executives. Due to the nature of these clubs, they are primarily self-funded and therefore fund various activities as and when required, including kit. These clubs benefit from 50% funding for BUCS competition. Please contact individual clubs for more details.
